Tuesday: We will spend some time to review the test from ch-2, Chemistry of life. Then we will discuss section -3.1, cell theory and section-3.2, cell organelles. Students should practice the following vocabulary words and the definitions:CYTOPLASM, ORGANELLE, PROKARYOTIC CELL, EUKARYOTIC CELL, CYTOSKELETON, ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM, RIBOSOME, GOLGI APPARATUS, VESICLE, MITOCHONDRION, VACUOLE, LYSOSOME, CENTRIOLE.
The above mentioned vocabulary words along with the definitions and pronunciation can be found on the website classzone.com as well as in their text books.
Wednesday: Will work on section -3.3, cell membrane and section-3.4, diffusion and osmosis. Students will work on a group activity modeling the cell membrane. Do the worksheet and section assessments for homework.
Thursday: Will discuss section-3.5, active transport, endocytosis, and exocytosis. Students will work in groups to do an activity on comparing cells using the microscope. Do the worksheet and section assessments for homework.
Friday: All the section assessments from 3.1-3.5 and the worksheet are due. We will work on the ch-3 assessment during class and review for the test.
NOTE: Students will have homework in Biology every night, either reading or writing.
