Monday: Today we will discuss sec-5.2, Energy. Students will learn to identify several forms of energy, calculate kinetic energy for an object, apply the work-kinetic energy theorem to solve problems, and distinguish between kinetic and potential energy. Do the section review for homework.
Tuesday: Students will work on the practice problems B for part of the class period. Next they will work in groups to finish their "Creating Robots" project.
Wednesday: Today students will work on practice problems C and D for part of the class period. Next we will discuss sec-5.3, Conservation of Energy. Students will identify situations in which conservation of mechanical energy is valid, recognize the forms that conserved energy can take, and solve problems using conservation of mechanical energy.
Thursday: Students will work on practice problems E and then finish their section-5.3 section review. Next they will continue to work on the Robots project.
Friday: Discussion on sec-5.4, Power. Students will relate the concepts of energy, time, and power; calculate power into two different ways, and explain the effect of machines on work and power.
