JA 7A Science Schedule for Dec 8th - 12th

Monday: Students should turn in their study guide for sec-2, Igneous rocks on Monday. They can work on it for 20minutes during the class. Next we’ll work on sec-3, Sedimentary rocks. We’ll learn about erosion, deposition, compaction, cementation, and the types of sedimentary rocks. Students will get a new study guide today.

Tuesday: Students will work on observing the characteristics of various rocks. Next they will work on a discover activity: “How does pressure affect particles of rock”?

Wednesday: Discussion on sec-4, Rocks from reefs and sec-5, Metamorphic rocks. Next they will work on the study guide.

Thursday: Students will watch videos on the formation of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks.

Friday: Discussion on sec-6, The rock cycle. Work on the study guide and finish it for homework.

Biology Schedule for Dec 8th - 12th

Monday: Discussion on sec-11.5, Speciation through isolation. We’ll learn about reproductive isolation, behavioral isolation, geographic isolation, and temporal isolation. Next students will work on the study guide.

Tuesday: Discussion on sec-11.6, Patterns in Evolution. We’ll learn about convergent evolution, divergent evolution, coevolution, extinction, punctuated equilibrium, and adaptive radiation. Do the study guide.

Wednesday: Discussion on sec-12.1, The fossil record. We’ll learn how fossils can form in several ways, the process of permineralization, and radiometric dating provides an accurate estimate of fossil’s age. Next students will watch a video on fossils.

Thursday: Discussion on sec-12.2, The geologic time scale. We’ll discuss about index fossils, geologic time scale, eras, periods, and epochs. Next we’ll move on to sec-12.3, Origin of life.

Friday: Students will play the interactive vocabulary games on the classzone.com to check their comprehension in vocab.

Earth Science Schedule for Dec 8th - 12th

Monday: Students will work on the chapter review for ch-20, The Ocean Basins. Next they will work on a vocabulary game and concept mapping.

Tuesday: Students will work on the extension activity. They should do research and creat an imaginary walking tour of the ocean basins. Their tour should begin at the edge of a continent and explain exactly what tourists should look for along the continental margin and the ocean floor. They should present it to their peers on a power point.

Wednesday: We’ll discuss sec-21.1, Properties of ocean water. We’ll learn about the composition of ocean water, elements in ocean water, dissolved gases, salinity of ocean water, temperature, density, and color of ocean water. Do the worksheet and section review for homework.

Thursday: Discussion on sec-21.2, Life in the oceans. We’ll learn about the ocean chemistry and marine life, sunlight and marine life, ocean environments, benthic and pelagic zones. Next we’ll discuss sec-21.3, Ocean resources. Do the worksheet and section review for homework.

Friday: Students will watch videos on life in the oceans.
