JA 7A Science Schedule for Nov 28th - Dec 2nd

Monday: “Earthquake Safe House”, project is due today. Students will present their projects to their peers.

Tuesday: Presentations will continue for part of the block. Next, we will discuss about the pros and cons of students projects and discuss about constructive criticism.
Wednesday: Discussion on sec-3, Mapping the Stars. Students will learn about patterns in the sky, constellations, seasonal changes, finding stars in the night sky, the size and scale of the Universe, etc. Do the notes and review for homework.

Thursday: Today students will work on the chapter review for part of the class. Next, we will study for the test.
Friday: Test on ch-1, Studying Space.

Chemistry Schedule for Nov 28th - Dec 2nd

Monday: Discussion on sec-11.3, Atomic Orbitals. We will learn about the Hydrogen Orbitals, Hydrogen energy levels, the wave mechanical model, etc. Do the notes and review for homework.

Tuesday: Today we will discuss sec-11.4, Electron Configurations and Atomic Properties. Students will learn about electron arrangement, electron configuration, orbital diagrams, valence electrons, core electrons, atomic size, ionization energies, etc. Do the notes and review for homework.
Wednesday: Today students will work on the chapter assessment for part of the class period. Next, we will study for the test.

Thursday: Test on ch-11, Modern Atomic Theory.
Friday: Discussion on sec-13.1, Describing the Properties of Gases. Students will learn about pressure, measuring pressure, units of pressure, Boyle’s law, and Charles’ law. Do notes on sec-13.1.

Physical Science Schedule for Nov 28th - Dec 2nd

Monday: Students will work on ch-12 chapter review for the first part of the class period. Next, we will study for the test.

Tuesday: Test on Ch-12, Forces and Motion.
Wednesday: Today we will discuss sec-13.1, Fluid Pressure. We will learn about pressure in fluids, air pressure and the atmosphere. Do the notes and review for homework.

Thursday: Discussion on sec-13.2, Forces and pressure in fluids. Students will learn about transmitting pressure in a fluid, Pascal’s principle, hydraulic systems,  Bernoulli’s principle, etc. Do the notes and review for homework.
Friday: Today we will discuss about Buoyancy in sec-13.3. Students will learn about buoyant force, Archimedes’ Principle, density and buoyancy, submarines, etc. Do the notes and review for homework.

JA 7A Science Schedule for Nov 21st & 22nd

Monday: Discussion on Book-3, ch-1, sec-2, Telescopes. We will learn about optical telescopes, refracting telescopes, reflecting telescopes, the electromagnetic spectrum, non optical telescopes, radio telescopes, etc. Do the notes and review for homework.

Tuesday: Today we will discuss sec-3, Mapping the Stars. Students will learn about the patterns in sky, constellations, seasonal changes, finding stars in the night sky, path of stars across the sky, measuring distance in space, etc. Do the notes and review for homework.

WORK ON YOUR EARTHQUAKE SAFE HOUSE PROJECT, WHICH IS DUE ON MONDAY NOVEMBER 28TH.

Monday: Discussion on sec-11.1, Atoms and Energy. We will learn about Rutherford’s Atom, energy and light, electromagnetic radiation, wavelength, frequency, photons, and emission of energy by atoms. Do the notes and review for homework.

Tuesday: We will discuss sec-11.2, The Hydrogen Atom. Students will learn about the energy levels of hydrogen, the Bohr model of the atoms, and the wave mechanical model of the atom. Do the notes and review for homework.

Physical Science Schedule for Nov 21st & 22nd

Monday: Discussion on sec-12.3, Newton’s Third Law of Motion and Momentum. We will learn about Newton’s third law, momentum, and conservation of momentum. Do the notes and section review for homework.

Tuesday: Today we will discuss sec-12.4, Universal Forces. Students will learn about electromagnetic forces, nuclear forces, gravitational force, and uses of satellites. Do the notes and review for homework.

JA 7A Science Schedule for Nov 7th - 10th

Monday: Students should tun in their ch-5 chapter assessment for grading today. Next, they will do research to find out how earthquakes damage structures such as; homes, office buildings, highways, etc. This research will also include the information on how engineers design structures to withstand earthquakes. Students should use this information to design and build their model.

Tuesday: Test on ch-5, Earthquakes.

Wednesday: Today we will discuss ch-6, sec-1, Volcanic Eruptions. Students will learn about nonexplosive eruptions, explosive eruptions, types of lava, types of pyroclastic material, etc. Do the notes and review for homework.

Thursday: Discussion on sec-2, Effects of Volcanic Eruptions. Students will learn about volcanic eruptions and climate change, different types of volcanoes, and other types of volcanic landforms. Do the notes and section review for homework.

Chemistry Schedule for Nov 7th - 10th

Monday: Students should finish their notes and section reviews for sec-8.1 to 8.3. Today we will work on ch-8 chapter assessment for the first part of the block. Next, we will study for the test.

Tuesday: Test on ch-8, Reactions in Aqueous Solutions.

Wednesday: Today we will discuss sec-10.1, Energy, Temperature, and Heat. Students will learn about the nature of energy, temperature and heat, exothermic and endothermic processes, etc. Do the notes and section review for homework.

Thursday: Discussion on sec-10.2, The Flow of Energy. We will learn about thermodynamics, measuring energy changes, heat capacity, etc. We will work on solving problems converting calories to joules, calculating energy requirements, calculations involving specific heat capacity, etc. Do the notes and review for homework.

Monday: Test on ch-8, Solutions, Acids, and Bases.

Tuesday: Today we will discuss sec-11.1, Distance and Displacements. Students will learn about choosing a frame of reference, measuring distance, measuring displacements, and combining displacements. Do the notes and section review for homework.

Wednesday: Discussions on sec-11.2, Speed and Velocity. Students will learn about speed, average and instantaneous speed, graphing motion, velocity and combining velocities. Do the notes and section review for homework.

Thursday: We will discuss sec-11.3, Acceleration. We will learn about acceleration, changes in speed and direction, calculating acceleration, graphs of accelerated motion, speed-time graphs, distance-time graphs, and instantaneous acceleration. Do the notes and review for homework.
