Earth Science for Week: 12/16/13-12/20/13

Monday: Students spent an hour today in the computer lab researching information for "Gulkana Glacier". They should type up the essay with 12 font, including the topic sentence, three supporting characteristics for the body of the essay, and the concluding paragraph. They should also include the bibliography at the end. This essay is due on Wednesday.

Tuesday: We discussed Sec-26.1, Viewing the Universe during class and student's took notes on it. However, I did not assign additional homework as the essay is due tomorrow.

Wednesday: Do Sec-26.1 section review.

Thursday: Read Sec-26.2, Movements of Earth and take detailed notes.

Friday: Do the review for Sec-26.2.

Algebra 1 for Week: 12/09/13 - 12/13/13

Monday: Sec-5.6 handout, do #'s 1 to 15.

Tuesday: Sec-5.6 handout, do #'s 16 to 29.

Wednesday: Students will take a test on Ch-5 on Thursday. We spent time in class going over the chapter to prepare for the test.

Thursday: No homework tonight.

Friday: Sec-7.1 handout, Zero and Negative Exponents - do #'s 1 to 30.
Physical Science for Week: 12/09/13 - 12/13/13

Monday: Do sec-13.3 notes and review.

Tuesday: Students who did not finish Ch-13 chapter review #'s 1 to 19 during class can turn it in tomorrow. There will be a quiz on Ch-13 on Wednesday. Review and study the chapter for homework.

Wednesday: Read Sec-15.1, Energy and its Form. Write the definitions, formulas, units, and 20 facts.

Thursday: Do Sec-15.1 section assessment #'s 1 to 9.

Friday: Do notes on sec-15.2. Next, work on the section assessment #'s 1 to 8.
Earth Science for Week:  12/09/13 - 12/13/13

Monday: Test on Ch-16, Groundwater is on Tuesday.

Tuesday: Read Sec-17.1, Glaciers: Moving Ice and take detailed notes on it. We will discuss this section during class on Wednesday.

Wednesday: Students should read Sec-17.2, Glacial Erosion and Deposition and take detailed notes on it. Students will be assigned to work on an essay about the Gulkana Glaciar Landscape tomorrow during class.

Thursday: Read Sec-17.3 and take notes on it. Students will get some class time to plan and research information for their essay.

Friday: Student received the information and the rubric along with the planning guide for the "Gulkana Glacier" essay. We spent some time in the computer lab doing research to come up with a topic sentence and three ideas to work on the essay. The planning guide will be due on Monday at the end of the class and it should be approved by me before they begin working on their essay. We will spend more time in the computer lab on Monday as well to make sure that everyone has enough time to put their ideas together. Essay is due on Wednesday 12/18/13.

Monday: Sec-5.4 handout, do numbers 1 to 14 for homework.

Tuesday: Finish sec-5.4 handout and sec-5.4 puzzle. Both are due on Wednesday.

Wednesday: Students should work on ch-5 mid-chapter quiz on page 319. They can choose any 20 problems out of the 26 problems they have.

Thursday: Students should work on problems 8 to 36 on page-324 from sec-5.5.

Friday: Students should finish the handout on sec-5.5, Standard Form #'s 1 to 32.

Algebra 1 for Week: 11/12/13 - 11/15/13

Tuesday: The test for Ch-4 is postponed to Thursday. Students should practice the chapter review, cumulative test prep, and the chapter test to review all the topics.

Wednesday: Students worked on sec-4.7 handout during class. They can finish it at home, if they couldn't complete it in class. They have a test on ch-4 on Thursday.

Thursday: Students got an extended day to finish sec-4.7 handout. They should turn it in tomorrow.

Friday: Page-296 problems 17 to 38 in their classwork notebook.
Physical Science for Week: 11/12/13 - 11/15/13

Tuesday: Students should take notes on sec-8.4 and do the section review as well.

Wednesday: Students should read sec-11.1 and write the definitions for the vocabulary terms. Next, they should read each subtopic and summarize it in detail.

Thursday: Students should read sec-11.2 and summarize each subtopic. Next, they should do the section assessment #'s 1 to 5.

Friday: Sec-11.2 section assessment #'s 1 to 9 is for homework. Students should also read sec-11.3 and write at least 20 - 25 facts from the topic.
Earth Science for Week: 11/12/13 - 11/15/13

Tuesday: Students should turn in their Book-1 tomorrow. Research project on Volcanoes is due tomorrow before 7:30 AM. Students should turn in a hard copy and an electronic copy. They can provide it on a flash drive or e-mail me at pchava@telesis-academy.org.

Wednesday: Students should read Sec-14.1 Weathering Processes, and take notes on it for homework in Book-1.

Thursday: Read sec-14.2 and take notes on it.

Friday: Use the National Park Service Site to do a research on one of the major National Parks in United States. Your research should include the National Park you chose, where it is located, describe the distinctive land forms in the park, how they have been affected by the differential weathering, and other major weathering processes. Type a 3 page 12 font written report to present it to your class. Use diagrams or pictures to help illustrate your information. Assignment is due on Tuesday 11/19/2013.

Algebra 1 for Week - 11/04/13 to 11/08/13

Monday: Students turned in their sec-4.2 handouts during class. We also worked on most of sec-4.3 Patterns and Nonlinear Functions, however, they can go over it at home and finish the rest to turn it in tomorrow.

Tuesday: We discussed Sec-4.4, Graphing a Function Rule and went over few problems during class. Students should finish the handout for sec-4.4.

Wednesday: Students should work on sec-4.5 handout, Writing a Function Rule. They should work on the first five sheets on the handout.

Thursday: No homework tonight. Students can read AR.

Friday: Students should finish sec-4.6 handout. If they need help on the handout they should review the sample problems from the textbook on pg-268 to 271, go to www.khanacademy.org, or www.youtube.com.

Students should also review ch-4 for test on Wednesday 11/13/13.
Physical Science for Week - 11/04/13 to 11/08/13

Monday: Students will have an Open Book Test on ch-7 on Tuesday. They should review the definitions, key concepts, formulas, and other facts to be able to finish the test successfully and on time.

Tuesday: Students should read sec-8.1, Formation of Solutions and take detailed notes on it.

Wednesday: Students should work on sec-8.1 review for homework.

Thursday: Students should finish their notes on sec-8.2, and then work on the section review.

Friday: Students who did not finish their notes and reviews for sec-8.1 & 8.2 should get caught up on it. Next, they should do notes and review for sec-8.3.
Earth Science for Week - 11/04/13 to 11/08/13

Monday: Students were given time during class to work on sec-12.3 notes after the discussion. They should work on the section-12.3 review for homework. The test for ch-12 is on Wednesday and we will review for the test during class tomorrow.

Tuesday: Students have a test on Ch-12, Earthquakes on Wednesday. They should review all three sections for the test.

Wednesday: Students should read sec-13.1, Volcanoes and Plate Tectonics and take detailed notes on it with important facts.

Thursday: Students should read sec-13.2, Volcanic Eruptions and take detailed notes on it. Tomorrow we will draw diagrams of Shield, Cinder Cone, and Composite Volcanoes  and label the parts. We will also go over the research they should write on Volcanoes. I will provide them the handout with the instructions, rubric, directions for writing a website evaluation, and further information.

Friday: Students were given a handout about the research they should do on Volcanoes in the state they picked. They should give me a hard copy and an electronic copy of their research. They could either e-mail me the electronic copy or give it to me on a flash drive. This project is strictly due on Wednesday 11/13/13 before 7:30 AM. If students decide to change their state they should e-mail me at pchava@telesis-academy.org. This assignments is worth 200 points.

Friday: Students have a test on Ch-3 on Monday. They should practice the chapter review, chapter test, and cumulative test prep on pages 222 to 230 to prepare for the actual test.

Monday: Students should work on ch-6 chapter review on page-187 #'s 1 to 20. They will have a test on ch-6 on Wednesday 10/23/13.

Tuesday: Study for ch-6 test on Wednesday.

Wednesday: Read sec-7.1, Describing Reactions and take detailed notes in Book-1.

Thursday: Students should work on sec-7.1 assessment.

Friday: Students should read sec-7.2 and take detailed notes on it.
Earth Science Week - 10/21/13 to 10/25/13

Monday: Students have a test on Ch-10 on Tuesday. We reviewed the chapter game during class. Students should review sec-10.1, 10.2, and 10.3 to do well on the test.

Tuesday: Students took a test on ch-10 today. They do not have homework tonight other than doing their AR reading.

Wednesday: Read sec-11.1, How Rocks Deform and take detailed notes. There are quite a few vocabulary terms in this section, hence students should study the key terms and definitions and they will be quizzed on Thursday.

Thursday: Students should complete sec-11.1 section review, which they worked on part of it during class. Next, they should read sec-11.2 and take detailed notes.

Friday: Read sec-11.2 and do the section review.

Tuesday: Page-193, Mid-Chapter Quiz, do #'s 1 to 23 in homework notebook.

Wednesday: Sec-3.5 Working With Sets handout, do problems 1 to 23 on a separate sheet of paper.

Thursday: Page-197 students should work on problems 20 to 49 in their homework notebooks.

Friday: Do sec-3.6 Compound Inequalities handout. If students need more help they can look at the sample problems on pages- 200 to 203.

Wednesday: Read sec-6.2 and take detailed notes in Book-1. Then, do the review #'s 1 to 5 in Book-2.

Thursday: Read sec-6.3, and take detailed notes. Make sure you list the charts and formulas as well.

Friday: Do sec-6.3 review, #'s 1 to 10 in Book-2. Next, read sec-6.4 and take detailed notes.
Earth Science Week 10/14/13 - 10/18/13

Monday: Students should read sec-10.1 and do detailed notes in Book-1. Study the definitions.

Tuesday: Students were given about half hour to work on sec-10.1 review during class and they are supposed to finish it for homework. They should also read sec-10.2 and take detailed notes on it.

Wednesday: Do the section review for sec-10.2 in Book-2.

Thursday: Students can catch up on their sec-10.2 notes and review today. Next, they should work on sec-10.3 notes.

Friday: Sec-10.1, 10.2, and 10.3 reviews are due on Monday.
Ch-10 chapter review on pg-262, do #'s 1 to 20 in Book-2.
Study for ch-10 test, which is on Tuesday 10/22/13. We will review the sections for the test during class on Monday.

Earth Science Week: 9/30/13 - 10/4/13

Monday: Students should do detailed notes on sec-6.3 in Book-1 and study the section to review the important definitions and facts.

Tuesday: Do sec-6.3, section review in Book-2.

Wednesday: Students should work on sec-6.4, section review in Book-2.

Thursday: Today students should work on ch-6 chapter review #'s 1 to 23. They worked on this assignment for half hour during class and were assigned to finish it at home if they are not done.

Friday: No homework in Earth Science. Do AR reading. Students should take an AR quiz on Monday, October 14th. If they are reading a big book they should take one quiz, if they are reading small books they should quiz on two books.

Monday: Students should work on their "Element Mobile Project", which is due on 10/3/13.
Students who did not finish their notes on sec-5.3, Representative Names should finish it for homework and study the section for a short quiz.

Tuesday: Students have less or no homework so they can work on their project. Do Ch-5 chapter review #'s 1 to 10 in Book-2.

Wednesday: "Element Mobile Project" is due on Thursday 10/3/13, hence, students do not have other homework tonight.

Thursday: Students are presenting their projects during class. No homework, read AR.

Friday: Study ch-5. Students will have a test on ch-5 on Monday, October 14th.

Friday: Sec-3.4, page-189, do #'s 1 to 43 on separate sheet of papers. This assignment is due on Monday, October 14th.

Algebra 1

Monday: This group is assigned three assignment on A+. Students have the log in information. They should work on the following assignments:
1. Solving multi-step equations.
2. Solving equations with variables on both sides.
3. Literal Equations.
Due to internet difficulties these assignments were extended until 9/25/13.

Tuesday: Today students should finish the handout for sec-2.7, Solving Proportions. They will have a test on Ch-2 coming up, hence, they should spend some time reviewing the chapter.

Wednesday: Students should work on sec-2.8 handout for homework.

Thursday: Students should work on sec-2.9 Percents handout. Do problems 1-15. Students will have a test on Ch-2 on Monday. They should spend some time reviewing for the test over the weekend.

Friday: Students who did not finish sec-2.9 handout can work on it over the weekend and turn it in on Monday. Test on Ch-2, on Monday!

Best way to review for your test is to practice chapter review on pg-152, or ch test on pg – 157, or cumulative test prep on pg – 158.

Academy Physical Science

Monday: Students took a test on ch-4 today. They should finish sec-4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 reviews that were assigned last week for homework. These section reviews are due on Tuesday. 9/24/13.

Tuesday: Students should list the 25 essential elements in human body. They should also study sec-5.1, for a short quiz tomorrow.

Wednesday: Students should come up with a plan for their "Element Mobile Project", which is due on 10/03/13. They should work on sec-5.1 assessment, #'s 1 to 8 and writing in science in Book-2.

Thursday: Finish notes on sec-5.2, and work on the section assessment #'s 1 to 8 and writing in science.

Friday: Students should fix their mistakes on ch-4 test.
REMEMBER: ELEMENT MOBILE PROJECT IS DUE ON 10/3/13.

Academy Earth Science - First Block

Monday's Homework - Work on ch-5 chapter review, page-116, #'s 1 to 25 I Book # 2. This assignment is due on Tuesday. 9/24/13.

Tuesday: Study for the test on ch-5, Minerals of the Earth's Crust. Ch-4 notes and ch-4 chapter review are due on Wednesday.

Wednesday: Read and take detailed notes on sec-6.1 "Rocks and Rock Cycle" in Book-1.

Thursday: Work on sec-6.1 section review in Book-2.

Friday: Read sec-6.2, and do detailed notes on it. There is a short quiz on Monday.
