JA &B Science Schedule for Feb 16th - 19th

Tuesday: Discussion on mass, units of mass, the measurement of mass, and the difference between mass and weight. Next students will work on measurement of mass lab where they get to measure the masses of various objects using spring scales, common balance, electronic scales, and platform scale.

Wednesday: Today students will learn about volume of liquids, volume of regular solids, and volume of irregular solids. Later they will do several labs to measure volume of both regular and irregular solids.

Thursday: Discussion on density, units of density, and densities of common substances. Next students will do problems to figure out density when mass and volume are given, followed by the measurement of density lab.

Friday: Today students will learn to measure time and temperature. We will focus on units of temperature, measuring temperature, comparing Celsius and Kelvin scales, and conversions between units. Do the sec-1, section assessment for homework.

Physics Schedule for Feb 16th - 19th

Tuesday: Discussion on sec-3.2, Vector operations. Students will learn to identify appropriate coordinate systems for solving problems with vectors, and to apply Pythagorean theorem and tangent function to calculate the magnitude and direction of a resultant vector. Next they will work on practice A and practice B problems.
Wednesday: We will continue our discussion on sec-3.2. Today students will learn to resolve vectors into components using the sine and cosine functions, and to add vectors that are not perpendicular. Later they will work on practice C problems and section review.
Thursday: Discussion on sec-3.3, Projectile motion. Students will learn to recognize examples of projectile motion, to describe the path of a projectile as a parabola, and to resolve vectors into their components and apply the kinematic equations to solve problems involving projectile motion.
Friday: Today students will work on practice D and practice E problems. Do the sec-3.3, section review for homework.

Earth Science Schedule for Feb 16th - 19th

Tuesday: Students should turn in their Ch-3 section reviews and chapter review today for grading. Students can get help for the first half hour. Next students will study for the test in groups.

Wednesday: Test on ch-3, Models of the Earth. Next we will begin our discussion on sec-4.1, Matter.

Thursday: We will continue our discussion on sec-4.1. Students will learn to compare chemical and physical properties of matter, to describe the basic structure of an atom, compare atomic number, mass number, atomic mass, and isotope, and to describe the arrangement of elements in the periodic table. Do the section review for homework.

Friday: Today we will discuss sec-4.2, Combinations of atoms. Students will learn about compound and molecule, how to interpret chemical formulas, to describe the two ways that electrons form chemical bonds between atoms, and to explain the differences between compounds and mixtures. Do the section review for homework.
