Earth Science Schedule for Mar 29th - Apr 2nd



Monday: Today we will discuss sec-7.2, Nonrenewable Energy. Students will learn concepts such as; why coal is a fossil fuel, how petroleum and natural gas are removed from Earth, the process of nuclear fission and nuclear fusion, and how nuclear fission generates electricity. Next students will watch videos on these concepts. Do the section review for homework.


Tuesday: Discussion on sec-7.3, Renewable Energy. Students will learn how geothermal energy may be used as a substitute for fossil fuels, they will learn to compare passive and active methods of harnessing energy from the sun, and how water and wind can be harnessed to generate electricity. Do the section review for homework.

Wednesday: Discussion on sec-7.4, Resources and Conservation. Students will learn about the environmental impacts of mining and the use of fossil fuels, how the environmental impacts of mining can be reduced, and identify various ways that we can conserve natural resources. Next students will watch videos on conservation of resources. Do the section review for homework.
Thursday: Students will work on an inquiry lab - Blowing in the wind. The objective of this lab is to design and build a functional windmill that lifts a specific weight as quickly as possible.
Friday: Students will work on their chapter assessment for part of the class period and then study for the chapter test.
