Physical Science Schedule for September 19th - 23rd

Monday: Due to the delay with “Energy Levels” lab last week, students were not able to work on their chapter review during class. We will work on ch-4 chapter review for part of the class, and then study for the test.

Tuesday: Test on ch-4.

Wednesday: Discussion on sec-5.1, Organizing the Elements. Students will learn to describe how Mendeleev arranged the elements in his table, explain how the predictions Mendeleev made and the discovery of new elements demonstrated the usefulness of his periodic table. Do the notes and section review for homework.

Thursday: Today we will discuss sec-5.2, Modern Periodic Table. We will learn about describing the arrangement of elements in the modern periodic table, explain how atomic mass of an element is determined and how atomic mass units are defined, and identify general properties of metals, nonmetals, and metalloids. Do the notes and section review for homework.

Friday: Discussion on sec-5.3, Representative Groups. Today students will learn to relate the number of valence electrons to groups in the periodic table and to properties of elements in those groups, predict the reactivity of some elements based on their locations within a group, and identify some properties of common A group elements. Do the notes and section review for homework.
